SanctuaryWays We Worship

Worship is central for us each week. We gather to remember God’s Big Story and to find ourselves in it. We remember who and whose we are as the Body of Christ, empowered and gifted by the Holy Spirit.

Upcoming Services
May 5th:  6th Sunday of Easter
Fruit that lasts is what we are called to produce with our discipleship in Christ. This is
why we pray with confidence– because God wants us to succeed as followers of Christ, as His church. We pray for God’s kin(g)dom to come in and for us; and throughout the Earth, God’s will to be done by us. Christian spirituality is not about pleasing ourselves. What pleases God? We live and pray for the things Jesus lived and prayed for. That is what it means to pray in His name. The outcomes, or fruit, of our lives will identify us. What fruit should our church have?
May 12: Mother’s Day/Confirmation Sunday
Today is Ascension Sunday. It has been said of some people, “If we are too heavenly
minded, we will be no earthly good.” This sentiment is also a quote from one of my favorite American novels, To Kill A Mockingbird. “There are just some kind of men who-who’re so busy worrying about the next world they’ve never learned to live in this one, and you can look down the street and see the results.” Do you agree, or disagree? Jesus called His followers to be salt and light in the world, yes? If so, what vision of Heaven helps us live here on Earth in ways that equip us with the courage and moral fortitude to do all the good we can, everywhere we can, to everyone we can, for as long as we can?
May 19: Pentecost/Graduation Sunday
Acts 2:1-12 Pentecost Sunday! The Spirit was given to empower all disciples to be
Jesus’ advocates and truth tellers, regardless of age or gender. As we celebrate the legacy of faith, hope, and love our children carry into their futures, are we praying for the Spirit to help all of us invest in the future of this church? Is anyone too old to be filled with the Spirit and a blessing to others?
May 26: Trinity Sunday!
John 3:1-17 mentions the three persons of the Triune God. What does
it mean for you to believe in the only Son of God, or to be born from above? How is the world saved through Him? What does it mean to see the kingdom of God, or to be saved? What about those who do not believe, or those of other faiths? Let us explore some of what we think with humility, and consider what we don’t understand about these issues raised in John’s Gospel.
June 2: 1st Sunday after Pentecost
First, Do No Harm. Mark 2:23-3:6 expresses profound principles embedded in the Law
of Moses, and they carry over into our own modern religious practices. Love is the highest goal.  And love, Jesus said, does no harm to its neighbor. Boy, does that get messy! And fast! This is why I like to remember the three simple rules of Methodism.
